More job loss at HSN in Greater Sudbury

HSN in Greater Sudbury could see more job cuts before the week. 76 unionized positions are on the block, according to the hospital, pending the results of a third-party review by the North East LHIN. The layoff is planned as part of the Sudbury hospital’s 2018-2019 budget… as they look to eliminate $11.1 million deficit by 2019-2020.
 

Sudbury Catholic District School Board publishes balanced badges

Another year is already on the books, even if it’s not in the books for the Sudbury Catholic District School Board. This is after the board approved a 2018-2019 balanced budget. The board says that this year’s budget includes an increase in the special education allocation aimed at supporting students with special needs.
 

Safety under review at city hall

Security at North Bay City Hall is under review following two incidents in under a week. City hall went into lock down on nearly a week ago after employees received threats from a man who said he had a gun. The man, who’s been charged with uttering death threats, was arrested the in Blind River the following day. The second incident occurred on Friday when a man became loud and unruly.
 

Sault Ste. Marie Woman killed in highway collision

A 49-year-old Sault Ste. Marie woman has succumbed to injured following an accident just before the weekend. It happened in the eastbound on Highway 17 in the township of Huron Shores when her vehicle collided with a tractor trailer heading in the opposite direction. The cause of the crash is still unknown.
 

Slow down – Timmins Police

Timmins Police say they will be out, and they will be watching… when it comes to streets around Dalton Road. This follows a number of traffic complaints of drivers failing to obey the posted speed limits leading up to and within residential areas of the area.
 

Power Outage remains under investigation

The cause of a power outage in Sault Ste. Marie remains under investigation. This is after the lights went out Sunday afternoon for nearly 400 customers in a number of areas in the area of Great Northern Road. The power has since been restored, and anyone with information is asked to call PUC emergency.
