Suspect sought in break and enter, mischief

Sudbury Police are looking for information, following a break in at a local Meals on Wheels. They say once inside the facility located in Minnow Lake Place on Bancroft Dr. someone propped open the walk in fridge and freezer doors, destroying thousands of dollars in food and supplies due to significant food spoilage. The damage has been pegged at over $15,000.
 

Rain welcomed by fire fighters

Nearly 240 firefighters and support staff, along with 11 helicopters, continue to battle a blaze know In as North Bay 72 today. The 27,600-hectare fire is part of what is part of the Lady Evelyn area Fire Cluster. Reports say that rain brought welcomed relief yesterday, allowing crews to regroup.
 

3.3 million dollar project underway at Timmins High School

August is around the corner, it seems, and summer construction is expected to be on time for an ongoing special 3.3 million dollar project at Timmins High and Vocational School. The school board says each school bill be getting a new outdoor LED sign and PA system. Timmins High and Vocational School is also getting a new rubberized track in the next year, along with an artificial turf field. Once complete, the school will be able to host regional and provincial track meets.
 

Flight diverted as runway goes black

An undetermined electrical issue at the Sault Ste. Marie Airport forced a flight to be diverted to Michigan Monday. It was in the early hours when an incoming Air Canada flight from Toronto was redirected after it was found…the runway lights were not working. The electrical issue was resolved a little more than an hour later.
 

E-Bike rider busted for impaired driving

North Bay Police have arrested an E-Bike rider. While the details of the arrest are scarce, what is known is that following a traffic stop, the driver was determined to be impaired by the consumption of alcohol. A 43-year-old man from North Bay has been charged.
 

Be careful when smoking – Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services

Sault Ste. Marie fire crews are reminding the public to be careful, when smoking. This is after responding to numerous calls of small and smoldering outdoor fires. The cause of the fires relates to improper discarding of smoking materials. In one call there was damage done to an area residence. There were no injuries to report.
