Sudbury election delayed by a day

There are more questions than answers this morning in Sudbury, not the least of which is who will be elected in the 2018 municipal election. Many voters in Sudbury are admittedly upset this morning and Dominion Voting Systems has apologized for issues that delayed the casting of votes. Voters in Sudbury are back at the polls today, after technical issues with the online voting system prompted the city to extend the deadline for the municipal election. Polling closes at 8:00pm.
 

MacDonald, Provenzano reelected.

In the Mayoral race elsewhere, Al MacDonald came out on top yesterday in North Bay in the Mayoral race, as did Christian Provenzano in Sault Ste. Marie. In Timmins it was a different story as George Pirie, a well-known former Timmins mining executive, is now headed to the mayors office after beating out incumbent Steve Black.
 

Aspin promises a look at WSS review

In North Bay Jay Aspin, says he will now look at the pending closure of Widdifield Secondary School. Aspin topped the polls in the election for Near North trustee. He says he will review the Ombudsman’s review and recommendations pertaining to the slated closure of the school after next year.
 

Teens taught road safety

The Ontario Provincial Police are teaching teens about road safety. They along with the Safe Communities Partnership in Sault Ste. Marie, Algoma Public Health and Our Driving School for National Teen Driver Safety Week. They are calling on all teens to use the hash tag, #KnowWhatImpairedMeans to create positive behavior changes to reduce injury rates among teens.
 

New logo, visual identity for Sudbury School

A post secondary school has a new look. The University of Sudbury says that after numerous reflections and consultations, they have a new logo and new visual identity. The new logo features a flame, reminiscent of the University’s motto, “A flame of glowing radiance”.
 

Everyone encouraged to get their flu shot

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is once again encouraging the public to get the flu vaccine. They say that children under five years of age and people over 65 years of age, pregnant women and people with underlying health conditions are more vulnerable to complications from the flu. For more information about the flu shot, residents are asked to contact the health unit.
