Sudbury 5 takes the defending champs on home court

It was quite the night at the Sudbury arena yesterday, as the Sudbury 5 took to the court. Sudbury’s first pro basket ball team played in front of a home town crowd of over 3,000 taking their first home court game over the London Lightning 112-107. This home town win over the defending champion London Lightning which makes three straight wins for the Five to start their inaugural season.
 

Teen facing charges, after boosting a car, feeling police

A teen is facing charges after a wild ride. It all began after a vehicle was allegedly stolen from Manitoulin Island was intercepted near Lively. Sudbury OPP first received a traffic complaint involving the same vehicle and subsequently located it on Highway 17 in Walden Township. The 19-year-old from Wiki is now faces multiple charges, including failing to stop at an accident and fleeing police.
 

Two vehicle crash at busy North intersection

North Bay Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the corner of Worthington Street E. and Fisher Street yesterday during the drive home. While details of what the caused the busy intersection crash are not available, fire and EMS were also on scene.
 

SPCA imposters going door to door

The Ontario SPCA is warning residents in Sault Ste. Marie of imposters. They say a number of individuals have been impersonating an Ontario SPCA officers going door to door and asking for information before trying to confiscate family animals. Two woman and one man are allegedly involved. Anyone with questions should call the SPCA.
 

Driver charged after flipping vehicle into ditch

A driver is lucky to be in one piece but facing charges after a crash on highway 11. It happened near Kirkland Lake yesterday during the early morning hours. An investigation revealed that a tractor trailer had been traveling northbound on Highway 11, struck the shoulder which resulted in it flipping sideways in the northbound ditch. The 54-years-old from Emsdale is being charged with making an unsafe move – to a lane or shoulder.
 

DIA director, Jeff Serran stepping down after 14 years

The longtime executive director of the Downtown Improvement Area, in North Bay… is leaving his roll with the DIA. While he didn’t comment on what exactly he will be doing, Jeff Serran, told reporters another opportunity in the city has come up that he will be taking. His resignation comes into effect following the Downtown Christmas Walk.
