Snow is on the way!

After a week of bitter cold… snow is set to descend upon a number of areas in the North today. Weather Statements over the weekend for Greater Sudbury and today for North Bay suggest near 5 centimeters of snow will fall and bring total snowfall amounts to near 10 to 15 centimeters by Tuesday morning. Much of this is thanks to a low-pressure system heading northeast from Oklahoma toward the Great Lakes.
 

Weekend accident Police, Fire and EMS

A traffic accident brought Police Fire and EMS to the corner of Highway 11 and Airport Road in North Bay, over the weekend. The accident that brought at least three ambulances happened just before 1 p.m. Saturday. There are few details as to what caused the accident. There is also no word as to injuries or charges.
 

Police looking for wallet thief

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are looking for a female wanted for theft and fraud. They say this after an unknown female attended the Station Mall and lifted a wallet by the LCBO. They then left the mall, attended at the Mac’s Mart located on Gore Street a bought… a Klondike bar valued at $3.88 using a bankcard from the stolen wallet.
 

Sudbury 5 continues a slam dunk at Science North

Sudbury’s new pro basketball team, the 5, continue to score big points after extending their undefeated streak at their sold-out home opener Thursday. On Sunday, the team was at Science North… for a meet and greet. The Sudbury Five are set to play their next game Wednesday, against the Windsor Express.
 

Food bank needing donations

As we enter the holiday season, Northern College and its student association says they’re starting to struggle when it comes to meeting a growing need identified on campus. They say thanks to a recent boost in attendance of at least 50%, they’re now using part of the operational budget to stock shelves. The food bank says they never turn anyone away, and they are asking to Timmins area to give generously.
 

Major project on time and under budget

The Maley Drive project in Greater Sudbury, is on time and under budget. That’s the word heading into the work week from the city’s director of infrastructure capital planning. Phase one of the project has been broken a number of phases. Once complete the city expects it will remove 10,000 vehicles daily from Lasalle Boulevard and as many as 4,000 from the Kingsway.
