Grocery store delivery comes to Sudbury

Three grocery stores in Greater Sudbury say they’re offering home delivery for groceries. Done through a third-party company, Real Canadian Superstore, Your Independent Grocer and Valu-Mart say they can all now deliver, effective immediately. Loblaws says they began doing the same in Toronto, last year.
 

North Bay holds budget open house

The city of North Bay had it’s first budget open house of the term yesterday. Increased winter maintenance, more accessible pathways to beaches, along with a town and gown approach to tackling student housing issues. This was the first of two such events hosted by the city; an open house was relatively well attended considering the public budget.
 

Three men in Timmins area facing charges

Three men in the Timmins area are facing a raft of charges. This is following a search warrant and bust of more than $130,000 in drugs. One of the three men is from Timmins. The other two are from Toronto. The investigation involved a traffic stop which eventually led to the execution of two search warrants in the City.
 

43-year-old charged in break and enter

A 43-year-old man is facing charges. It all stems from a break in that is alleged to have occurred on Nov. 26th. Police say the accused broke into a residence in the 2800 block of Base Line, took various pieces of property with a value of approximately $1,000 and left. He was located, arrested, and was held for a bail hearing.
 

Teen caught driving with someone on their lap

OPP have charged a teenager in following a stunt that could have gone very wrong very fast. This is after the they got spotted a pickup truck…with two in the driver’s seat. It was on Highway 17 near the St. Joseph Island turnoff. Police caught the truck on the radar, travelling at a high rate of speed with someone sitting on the driver’s lap. An investigation revealed that the driver was a 18-years-old… with no license.
 

HSN recognized for Organ and Tissue Donation work

For the eighth year in a row, Health Sciences North is being been recognized for organ and tissue work. Specifically, for their achievements through donation. This year, HSN had 7 organ donors which led to 21 organ transplants and 43 tissue donations. The target conversion rate set by Trillium Gift of life network in Ontario is 58 per cent. A number that HSN has exceeded.

Protests in the Province tomorrow over cut to French Language Services

As the weekend approaches, many in Timmins are preparing to take to the front lines. A number of Franco-Ontarians will join the province-wide protest over the Government’s decision to cut the role of the French Language Services Commissioner. KFM news spoke to the Finance Minster Vic Fedeli who says the decision is strictly economic.
