Moose in Greater Sudbury has died

An ailing moose off Estaire Road in Greater Sudbury has died. It happened over the weekend. People had been noticing the cow moose since early March, around near the turnoff to Dill Lake Road, south of Pine Grove Golf Course. Biologists say it was likely from a parasite.
 

Distracted driver found to be suspended

Sudbury OPP are reminding drivers to keep two hands on the wheel starting the work week. This is after a 25-year-old was caught using a hand-held device, while suspended. He will be in court next month.
 

Mile inducted into the hall of fame

Two-time Olympian Taylor Milne is part of the latest class of area athletes elected to the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame. Milne represented Canada in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016
 

Pothole season creeping into the morning commute

Potholes are proving to be a big headache for cities and towns in the north. The city says since the start of 2019, it’s repaired hundreds of potholes, but unfortunately, the material it’s using is only a temporary fix.
 

Smokestack last to be levelled

The smokestack of the former Northern Breweries building in Sault Ste Marie has now been levelled. It was the last part of the over 100-year-old Bay Street building. The building has had its share of activity over the past 5 years… deliberately set a fire in 2013 and partial roof collapse last week.
 

Syl’s donation leads to 17k for Alzheimer Society

Syl’s Neighbourhood Kitchen had a one-year anniversary event on December 18, 2018, and raised just over $7,000.00 for the Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay & Districts. An anonymous donor provided an extremely generous donation of $10,000.00, bringing the grand total for the day to just over $17,000.
