One new case of COVID-19 announced by Public Health Sudbury & Districts

Public Health Sudbury & Districts have announced one new case of COVID-19 for the catchment area. The new case is described as a contact of another case with unknown exposure. Through contact tracing, Public Health will notify all close contacts directly.
 

Sault Ste Marie Health Unit announces two cases

Two more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Algoma Public Health catchment area. Both cases are evidence of community spread in southern Ontario. Close contacts of these individuals have been notified and both people are self-isolating at home.
 

Timmins class remains in isolation

A Timmins classroom remains in isolation due to a confirmed COVID-19 case. The class affected is at Louis-Rheaume Catholic School. The Conseil School board says there is one confirmed case, one class is in isolation, and the school is open. The case itself was reported yesterday The individual from 20 to 39 years of age.
 

New plows coming to North Bay

North Bay city Council has unanimously approved the purchase of two new plow trucks. Purchased from a local dealer, it’s for approximately $560,000. Some of that will come from savings. There are 16 plows overall in the city and the goal is to replace one or two each year.
 

Ride-sharing meeting goes virtual next week

The North Bay Police Service will host a virtual town hall next week. It’s on the proposed ride-share bylaw in the city. It will take place over Zoom early in the week to discuss the North Bay Police Services Board’s new proposed vehicles for hire and private transportation company vehicles bylaw.
 

Discussion around “Project Now” ongoing

Greater Sudbury city council heard from Project Now last night and got a closer look proposed downtown arena renovation. The idea suggests $40 million in savings when compared to the planned KED. While the discussion is ongoing, questions ranged from the proposed savings to the structural integrity of the arena’s roof, to the challenges the building’s core architecture raises when it comes to hosting large events.
