Are you tired today? Do you wonder when you’ve not felt tired lately? We can definitely run out of steam and feel depleted so often, especially as parents.
Many times, we have gone on Nature hikes or trips to the zoo or even spent time in a mall with our children, and before you know it, one of them is asking to have a rest or sit for awhile or even be carried. Sometimes I feel like a little child and I just want to sit for awhile and catch my breath, know that I’m seen and loved, and perhaps even be held for awhile too.
This morning, if you are feeling this way, I want to encourage you to lean and lean hard on Jesus! There is a verse that I love and I actually lean on this verse when I am feeling especially tired. In Matthew 11:28, 29 Jesus says “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
What a beautiful picture that is of Jesus saying I see you and I’m right beside you ready to take what is too heavy for YOU to carry upon MY shoulders. He wants to teach us how to walk this way daily. We were never created to walk alone carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. Pride causes us to believe we can do it all on our own, humility says I am in need of a heavenly Father who loves me and knows my every need and I admit that I can’t do all that I need to without him.
Many days we see only the mountain in front of us but remember even in the valley, we never walk alone. The Father is right there. He loves you and is inviting you his beloved child to come catch your breath, sit for awhile and be held.
