Pothole season has started in many cities across northeastern Ontario. Around the Greater Sudbury area, repair crews are actively working to fill potholes and drivers are being asked to watch their speed. The city’s infrastructure services department says the mild winter has helped crews stay on top of road repairs, resulting in fewer potholes.

Our Lady of Sorrows in Sturgeon Falls church is gladly accepting food donations all to keep the Jubilee Pantry stocked. Those who can are invited to give.

The Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat are giving tracking devices a test drive. They don’t hurt the animal in any way, but are been used as part of research study developed by Polar Bears International and 3M.

A facility in Kirkland Lake, CHAR technologies, expects to benefit from some government funding to do engineering and design work. Specifically, to transform wood waste into natural gas through a new heating process.

The city of Sault Ste Marie is preparing to launch an Adopt-a-Park program. It’s all to allow citizens and organizations to help care for Sault Ste. Marie’s 74 municipal parks.

In Elliot Lake, the North Shore Parents Association of Dance is set to host the Competitive Dance Showcase this Saturday in Collins Hall, starting at 6pm.

The U of S and the University of Ottawa it has written up a “memorandum of understanding” to offer bachelor’s degree level programs that are currently “not available in the region and to meet the needs of the labour market in Northeastern Ontario”. The hope is to get started September 2025.

The mild weather has caused an early end to the skiing season for a number of hills in Northern Ontario, and now Laurentian Ski Hill has announced it’s followed suit.

That said, an X Games style event known as “Air and Style” in snowboarding and skiing are this weekend on Mount Jamieson in the Timmins area. It will happen there this Saturday, starting at 1:00pm.
