Highway Reopened following collision.

Highway 17 was closed for some time yesterday, near Highway 537 due to a two-vehicle collision. Sudbury OPP say they responded to the scene, while officers investigate. There has been no word as to injuries or charges.


Over 1/2 mil netted in buildings sales.

The sale of two properties netted $600.000 dollars into the pocket of the North Bay Regional Health Centre. The properties, owned by the hospital on Ferris Drive and Beattie Street were leased by the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board and used for its ambulance bases. It was not disclosed who purchased the properties or how the buildings will be used.


Multiple charges laid in Police Cruiser theft

Multiple charges have been laid after Sault St. Police were called to an altercation, on Second Line West. Following that, one of the intoxicated individuals at the scene got into an unmanned Police cruiser and took off. The driver then struck a concrete driveway culvert and a utility pole in the 600 block of Cooper Street. He has been arrested.


Corner’s Office – Death Ruled Accidental

Meanwhile, Greater Sudbury Police say the Corner’s Office has ruled the death of a Greater Sudbury resident accidental. The incident began last week when a 56-year-old man from Levak was discovered deceased. The matter remains a coroner’s investigation.


Watch for wildlife

The OPP across Northern Ontario are reminded to be aware of their surroundings and scan for animals as fall moves into full swing. Police say they’ve investigated over 6,000 collisions involving wildlife this year. One of which has included a fatality.


Dominic Giroux new CEO at HSN

Health Sciences North welcome Dominic Giroux as its new CEO today. Giroux will also be taking over as the CEO of Health Sciences North Research Institute, a move that takes him away from Laurentian University, where he served as the school’s longest-tenured president.


Search resumes for Christopher Rivers, 44

The Timmins Police Service’s Emergency Response Team resumes their search today for a local resident, missing now for nearly a month. Anyone believing they may have seen Christopher Rivers is asked to call the Timmins Police Service.

Signs could be seen, and honking could be heard yesterday is Sault Ste. Marie. This is after pro-life supports took place in Life Chain yesterday afternoon on Great Northern Road. This was all apart of a larger federal initiative Life Chain is held in more than 200 locations across Canada annually.
