 The Launch of Anti-Violence Campaign at HSN
Canadian Union of Public Employees says they’re fighting back when it comes to workplace violence. The Chapter in Sudbury says that the majority of issues in the hospital, from disorderly but also from internal complaints. HSN has 1,200 staff and CUPE says they’re looking for close the gap with a campaign against workplace violence.


Pedestrian struck in North Bay
A male pedestrian is in hospital in North Bay after getting hit trying to cross Lakeshore drive, It took place just before lunch yesterday.  The pedestrian was struck by a black pickup truck subsequently rear-ended by an SUV.   KFM is following this story.


Aquatic Center moving forward
Timmins city council has pushed the proposed aquatic centre project forward. This week Council approved a two-phase bid includes $1.26 million for the construction ready design and tender work. The second phase is a bid of $420,109 for construction management, for a total bid of $1,6.


Algoma Central Corp office sold for $4.4m
Algoma Central Corp in Sault Ste Marie says they’re sold their 61,000-square-foot downtown office space. It was all penned for a  whopping $4.4 million dollars. The company, based in St. Catharines, says it’s e selling their commercial real estate holdings and focusing on maritime shipping in Canada and abroad.


Charges stayed for Sudbury man
Charges have been stayed against one of the two Sudbury men accused of murdering a Minnow Lake man earlier this year.  This is after 59-year old Kenneth Edwards was at a Bancroft Drive in March.  The other accused in the Edwards murder case, made an appearance in Sudbury yesterday.


Final jury selection begins today, trial Monday
The final step of jury selection begins today in regard to the Lac-Megantic train derailment.   The 2013 accident killed 47 people and destroyed part of the town.Three former railway employees are facing one charge of criminal negligence causing death.


Strike hits day TWO
It’s day two of an ongoing strike today, at Laurentian University by it’s faculty. And getting back to the bargaining table as soon as possible. Alex Friedman is the chief of staff at the University and says that when it comes to students being held accountable for deadlines.  But many students aren’t buying it… they say that their academic year is at stake.


Police Board budget getting trimmed
Trimming the budget. That was on the agenda for Sault Ste. Marie Police. The Police Services Board, approved the budget of just over $25,096,639… an overall 0.8 per cent decrease from the 2017 budget. That budget will be presented to council later this year.


Break and Enter suspect wanted
Timmins Crime Stoppers are asking for the Public’s help in locating those charged in taking a number of items from a vehicle this week.  Sometimes between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning someone smashed the vehicles rear window to access the cab and make off a number of tools.


VON display coming to North Bay
Discovery North Bay Museum is having a display for the Victorian Order of Nurses. It opens today at 3:00 pm. The exhibit includes uniforms, tools, scrapbooks, and photos connected to the history of the VON. It will be on display until November 17th


ebike Collision under investigation
It was all lights and sirens to a collision at Wyld Street and First Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. yesterday. Reports say an eBike rider was taken to hospital with unknown injuries while a black vehicle left the scene heading toward Second Avenue. Police are investigating, anyone with more information is asked to contact Police.
