Fire blamed on cigarette

A cigarette is being blamed for a fire that caused extensive damage in Sault Ste. Marie. It happened at an east-end apartment Wednesday.  Evidently, the cigarette was left next to a bed in a bedroom which lead to the bedding catching fire. Two female residents were not injured however they the smoke alarm in the unit was allegedly disabled.
