City of Greater Sudbury releases its COVID-19 vaccine policy

The City of Greater Sudbury has released its vaccine policy. It requires that all staff disclose their vaccination status by Sept. 30 and be fully vaccinated with an accepted vaccine by Nov. 15. In a media release issued Wednesday, the city noted that “reasonable accommodation will be provided to those employees with a valid Human Rights Code-based exemption for medical or religious reasons,” pending their approval with appropriate documentation.
 

LU first-year enrollment drops by 33%

Laurentian University says first-year enrollment dropped, by about 33 percent this fall. This is compared to the same period last year. That said universities provincewide have seen a slight rise in freshmen students, according to the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC).
 

Timmins Police looking for a missing woman

Public Health Sudbury declares an outbreak at Public School

Public Health Sudbury and Districts have declared a COVID-19 outbreak at R.L. Beattie Public School in Sudbury. PHSD also listed several recent exposure risks. The details can be found on the daily COVID summary page. The health unit reported nine new cases of COVID-19 in the local jurisdiction for Sept. 15.
 

New cases of COVID-19 tied to Nip First nation bus route

Nipissing First Nation is advising the public of a second positive case of COVID-19 relating to a bus route. The route serving the communities of Yellek and Duchesnay now has two cases involving youth. The first is between 12 and 17 years of age who resides in Yellek, and the second is a youth under 12 years of age who resides in Duchesnay. Individuals considered high-risk exposures are those who were transported to school on Nbisiing Bus Lines Route 4-5 between Sept. 7 and 10.
 

Blind River Town Council postpone all public gatherings at Municipal Office and at Council meetings

Blind River town council is the latest to postpone all public gatherings at the municipal office and at council meetings. The decision was made at its virtual council meeting held by zoon. Council will also require all municipal employees to be double vaccinated to be able to come to work with the similar policy expected to be drafted that will apply to visitors at the municipal office and other town-owned facilities.
 

OPP looking for a break enter and theft

James Bay OPP are looking for a suspect, they say is responsible for a break, enter, and theft. It happened September 1st on Fourth Street West in the Town of Cochrane. The investigation revealed that the person entered the business through a window and stole numerous items. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
