Sudbury’s family health team didn’t have to go far to find a new executive director. Meghan Peters will assume her new duties on April 1, the board of directors for the City of Lakes Family Health Team has announced. Peters succeeds Dave Courtemanche, who announced his retirement in early March.

Unionized teachers employed by Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord have reached a new three-year tentative agreement with the board. The deal is retroactive to September of 2022.

Hands the Family Health Network is inviting the public to celebrate with them on World Autism Awareness Day. It goes April 2 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the agency will hold in-person events at its offices in North Bay and Timmins.

Forklifts could soon be given access to Cochrane roads. The hope with a new bylaw would allow the equipment on some roads in order to bolster business for some.

Some roadwork may not be going ahead as planned. The 700 and 800 blocks of Queen Street East, from Pim to East Street, have been removed from this year’s planned city road work. 870 metres between East Street and Bruce being will be rebuilt during this year’s first phase of the multi-year $18-million Queen Street rebuild.

Greater Sudbury city council will once again look at the option of using clear garbage bags as one way to divert waste from the city’s landfill. The city wants to divert 90 per cent of its solid waste by 2050 in order to maximize space at the landfill.

Traffic on the St. Marys River is at a stand still following a vessel accident, near Munuscong Lake Junction. This year’s shipping season officially opened less than a week ago on March 22 at the Poe Lock.
